The level of teaching generally comprises three levels (memory level of teaching, understanding level of teaching, and reflective level of teaching).
Memory Level: Thoughtless Teaching
Understanding Level: Thoughtful Teaching
Reflective Level: Upper thoughtful level
Memory Level of Teaching
It is the first thoughtless level of teaching. Teaching at the memory level is considered to be the lowest level of teaching. At this level, the focus is on drills and remembering and recalling the facts and information.
Understanding Level of Teaching
Understanding something is to perceive or comprehend the meaning. At this level, students are taught with positive and negative examples. The teacher tries to clarify the relationship between the facts and concepts. Students are encouraged to elaborate on their answer in their own words.
Reflective Level
The term ‘reflective level’ is indicative of the highest level of thoughtfulness on the part of the teacher as well as the learner. At this level, cognitive and critical thinking is encouraged, and the teaching is done through problem-solving and discussions.
